Background - Reduction of CO2 Emissions as National Policy

Japanese Ministry of Environment (MOE) “Goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80% in 2050”

On August 14, 2009, the MOE announced the “Goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80% in 2050” and one of the concrete measures to achieve the goal is to set the share of biofuels in automobiles, air travel and shipping to 100%, 50% and 50% respectively. In addition, the MOE has decided that the policy of “Production, promotion and support of biomass resource utilization” is important to achieve the goal. Amidst this national policy, our business is in an excellent position to target this growing market.

The government of metropolitan Tokyo’s ”Carbon minus Tokyo 10-year project”

The government of metropolitan Tokyo aims to reduce “greenhouse gas emissions by 25% below year 2,000 levels by 2020.” To achieve this, a cross-sectoral strategy involving every city government called “Promotion to create a carbon minus city” and the “Carbon minus Tokyo 10-year project” was started.
According to recent updates regarding this project, companies with large CO2 emissions are required to reduce them (April, 2010); also, small and medium-sized enterprises are required to submit reports on their measures against global warming. Also, projects such as pruning of cedar forests, which are sources of allergy-causing cedar pollen, and using these wood based biomass as alternative energy to power sewage treatment plants are now underway.
This is an excellent opportunity for our company to introduce our technologies to help achieve the goals of creating a carbon minus society.

The Act for “Feed-in Tariff Scheme for Renewable Energy” enforced

With “Feed-in Tariff Scheme for Renewable Energy” starting in July, 2012, biomass is drawing high attention as one of the renewable energy sources for generating electricity.
Due to the disastrous earthquake of Tohoku, in March, 2011, development of new energy replacing both fossil fuels and nuclear power is now of the utmost importance and necessity, and the National Government is expected to further back, as through the above Act, the power generation by such renewable energies as from solar PV, wind power, hydraulic power, geothermal power and biomass.
To contribute to the recovery from huge earthquake damages, we are currently planning electricity generation project utilizing BDF which is to be made in the process of restoring the contaminated farm yards. This project is highly evaluated by the interested local governments, and we hope it will be materialized successfully soon in the future.

BDF Biodiesel Fuel

BDF Biodiesel Fuel

We produce BDF from plant bodies and animal fats by alkali catalyst method of non-water type and supercritical/subcritical method. Our BDF production technologies and equipment have already been granted various patents both in Japan and in foreign countries.

  • BDF applicable to Feed-in Tariff Scheme for Renewable Energy for electricity-generation is provided. 4,000-hour experimental endurance test is now in progress in the form of joint research with Yammer Energy System Co., Ltd. and Best Trading Inc.
  • Supercritical method is available for BDF production from animal fats and Plant bodies BDF production plant with our licensed technology for supercritical method is now under construction in USA.
